GENERAL:

 

Juniors: Are you interested in participating in this year's Olympics or maybe even cheer on your fellow classmates? Go to D-104 and pick up a form ASAP. Turn in forms by Tuesday, September 7, to Ms. Silvestro's box in the office or D-308. *Note: We're only limited to 15 Olympic participants & 15 cheerleaders. -- Yoneshige

 

To all Secondary Student Conference (SSC) Delegates: Don't forget this Saturday is the 1st pre- conference at Aiea High School's Library from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m.  Don't forget to bring pens, pencils, note pad and ideas of student/educational issues you want to address.  Wear comfortable clothing and remember to turn in your SA-1 (student permission form) and SSC application forms to Mrs. Kimura-Tung by this date. 

 

Make this change in your student planner book:  September 24 will be our Homecoming Assembly day.  We will be on a regular assembly schedule. Don't forget to participate in all the wonderful activities that are being planned for you during the week of September 20 - 24.  We will have dress-up days, door decorating contest and an Olympics day in place of Powder Puff.  Encourage your teachers to dress up and earn extra points for your grade level.  If you have any questions, please stop G-107 during non-class hours. -- Kimura-Tung

Cappex ''A GPA Isn't Everything'' Scholarship is open to all students currently enrolled in high school.  The deadline is 09/30.  For more information please pick up flyer at the Career/Center. -- Fia

 

College Week Live Fall $10,000 Scholarship is open to all high school students and must register online.  The deadline is 11/07.  For more information, please pick up the flyer at the Career/College Center. -- Fia

 

Zinch ''Sweet-Diggity-Dawg'' $20,000 Scholarship is open to all students with GPA of 2.00 or

Higher.  The deadline is 01/15.  Please pick more information at the Career/College Center. -- Fia

 

Cal Maritime and WUE Scholarship Program 2010-2011: The Western Undergraduate Exchange (WUE) is designed to permit students from participating states to attend Cal Maritime at reduced tuition rates.  Students from Hawaii qualify for the WUE program. -- Fia

 

The Captain David Lyman Scholarship for Hawaii Residents:  Students from Hawaii must apply to Cal Maritime Academy's programs licensed by the U.S. Coast Guard (Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering Technology, or Mechanical Engineering - licensed track).  Deadline is 01/15.  Please pick more information at the Career/College Center. -- Fia

 

First Freedom Student Competition is a national essay and video contest offering 9th - 12th grade students an opportunity to complete for awards as they examine the history, current importance and relevance of religious freedom in today's world.  For guidelines and registration, please pick up a flyer at the Career/College Center. -- Fia

 

To all interested clubs, organizations and councils: Looking for a fundraiser?   Elevate Dinning Cards is a dinning card offered through the Hawaii Restaurant Association.  The card represents 10% discount per meal for six months with all participating members of the Hawaii Restaurant Association.  The cost per a card is $25.00 and your organization will earn $10.00 per a card.  If you are interested, call 262-2764 or email support@elevate11.com for more information.  -- Kimura-Tung 

 

To all interested students and teachers:  Information on the "Leader for a Day" essay guidelines which describe the details of this year's writing contest, "Rotary Peacemaker" video contest and Community Forum: "To Elect or Not to Elect:  That is the BOE Question!" are now available in G-107.    If you would like more information on these contest/activities, please stop by G-107 to view the informational flyers. -- Kimura-Tung

University of Oregon and University of Washington:  Any athlete and/or student interested in attending these universities, please see Ms. Kabasawa in A-10.  The meeting is scheduled for Sept. 16.

 

Seniors participating in this year's Olympics, please pick up your forms in room F-1.  They're due this Friday, September 3.  Upon returning your forms, don't forget to pick up a jersey order form.

Topic:  DECA Events - 1st Leadership Seminar

The DECA Club will be holding a Leadership Seminar here at James Campbell High School.  We welcome all grade levels to sign up in Room G-206 if you are unable to attend this meeting. This seminar will provide you an opportunity to guide you through setting goals and how to achieve them.  Please attend to hear about the dates, location, and other eventful activities that will be provided throughout the school year.   If you have not yet attended one of the DECA meetings,

this is the time to join in a Marketing Association.  We are searching for interested students who with and without experience to take on the lead and run for Chapter or State Officers.  The position of President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer is still open.  Join us and explore and discover new beginnings. -- Urner
